Are Your Company's Systems Actually Secure?

A penetration test reveals how resilient your information systems are against attacks.

Some time ago, we visited a client who had an excellent information security policy, properly functioning firewalls, and an experienced IT team. At first glance, everything seemed fine. However, when we began a penetration test within the agreed scope – a simulated cyberattack – the result was surprising. In less than two days, we were able to move from regular user privileges to accessing sensitive systems, elevating ourselves to administrator level. Not because the IT team was careless, but because true security only becomes evident when it is actually tested.

Penetration testing is not just another technical checklist – it is a real opportunity to understand how resilient your systems are against attacks that may come from outside or from within the organization. It is like testing a security door: not just describing the door or examining the lock brand, but acting as a real intruder to see whether the door actually holds.

A penetration test helps uncover weaknesses that routine scans or internal audits may not detect. These may include misconfigured servers, forgotten user accounts, undocumented logins, or vulnerable third-party libraries. Such issues can exist even when everything appears to be in order – which is exactly why independent, real-world testing is necessary.

Penetration testing delivers value beyond identifying technical vulnerabilities. A well-executed test provides management and business stakeholders with a report they can understand – including business impacts, risk scores, and recommendations. This enables informed decision-making instead of reacting in panic to every red flag.

It’s Not Just About Whether to Perform a Penetration Test, But How to Choose the Right Partner

A good penetration testing partner does not simply deliver an automated report generated by a tool. They understand your business, ask the right questions, and tailor the test according to your risk appetite, industry, and regulatory requirements – whether PCI DSS, ISO 27001, NIS2, or DORA.

The right partner always starts with a clearly defined scope: whether testing public web applications, internal networks, employees (e.g., social engineering), or even physical access. They model attack vectors based on real threats and test in the same way experienced attackers would. Importantly, testing must not damage systems or cause unexpected disruptions – professional planning and clear boundaries are essential.

A competent partner must also translate results into business language. Instead of merely stating “SQL injection found,” they explain: “An attacker could execute commands that expose all customer data. The impact would include a GDPR violation and potential fines.” This approach turns penetration testing from a purely IT task into a critical business decision-making tool.

We believe that penetration testing should not be just a once-a-year compliance checkbox, but a strategic component of cyber resilience. We help organizations test what matters most – whether it’s customer data, service availability, or brand trust. Our approach combines international methodologies (OWASP, PTES, MITRE ATT&CK) with local market expertise and tailored reporting.

Whether you operate in banking, e-commerce, manufacturing, or the public sector – if you want to know how secure your systems truly are, penetration testing is the best mirror. And if you have already conducted one, ask yourself: did it give you confidence, or just an Excel spreadsheet?
